Statement by Global Peace Foundation Nepal and PET 2020 Partners

Postponement of International Conference on Peace, Environment & Tourism (PET) 2020

The Peace, Environment and Tourism (PET) convening planned for Nepal on May 8-9 is postponed, following official government of Nepal and participating country guidelines, with attention to protective health and safety best practices to prevent and avoid the spread of COVID-19. We are closely monitoring the ongoing situations (COVID-19) and will endorse an appropriate future date for the PET Conference once the situation is officially reported to be controlled and favorable. We do apologize for any inconvenience caused.

The Udhyami Yuva Challenge for local youth will forward as planned to support youth social enterprise training and mentorship within Nepal. The program will address critical issues such as environmental preservation, solid waste management, ICT, and capacity building. We will explore additional innovative conferencing and training strategies for international participation in this effort, including online support, "virtual tourism" and planning and program development in support of youth enterprise. We would hope as well to be able to pursue future Visit Nepal visitation and exchange programs.

If you have any additional queries or suggestions, please feel free to contact the Conference Secretariat at +977-1-4430042 or   Email:

This advisory will be updated as we continue to monitor the situation.
